Michigan Nonprofit Research Program

The Michigan Nonprofit Research Program supports research to improve our understanding of the Michigan nonprofit sector. The program offers opportunities to undertake research vital to the development of the sector in Michigan, and serves as a valuable convener and clearing house for the sector. The program encourages research that will inform and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Michigan nonprofits.

Background

The Michigan Nonprofit Research Program is a program of the Michigan Nonprofit Association and affiliated with the Aspen Institute Nonprofit Research Fund and the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership at Grand Valley State University. MNRP funds high-quality research and disseminates the results through publications and convenings that increase the understanding of the Michigan nonprofit sector. In its seven years of operation, the program has awarded $700,000 in support of 32 research projects to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Michigan nonprofits and to inform public policy related to the Michigan nonprofit sector. The program is currently funded by a grant from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation.
