In this day-long workshop, learn who Boomers really are and what motivates them. These motivations have implications for success in all areas of volunteer management. Explore exciting recruitment, job design, management and retention strategies to involve these resources in your volunteer program.
Richard Lynch is a management consultant who specializes in not for profit organizations. In addition to his many volunteer management presentations each year at workshops, conferences and conventions throughout the world, Mr. Lynch is the author of several management books and co-author of VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT: Mobilizing All the Resources of the Community. Based on his personal experience serving on boards of directors and staffing a variety of volunteer programs this workshop will offer realistic and effective techniques to program managers.

Voter Engagement Trainings for Nonprofits
MNA’s Michigan Participation Project will be hosting a series of trainings across Michigan in August, designed to give 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations the tools they need to efficiently and effectively incorporate nonpartisan voter engagement and education efforts into their everyday activities.
The Voter Engagement Trainings for 501(c)(3) Nonprofits will take place at the following dates and locations:
- Midland – August 18, 2008, 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., United Way of Midland County, 220 West Main Street, Suite 100, Midland
- Detroit – August 19, 2008, 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan, 2131 Beaufait, Detroit
- Oakland County – August 19, 2008, 2:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., ArtServe Michigan, Riley Broadcast Center, 1 Clover Court, Wixom
- Lansing – August 20, 2008, 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., Michigan Nonprofit Association, 1048 Pierpont Dr., Suite 3, Lansing
- Grand Rapids – August 20, 2008, 2:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., Fair Housing Center of West Michigan, 20 Hall Street SE, Grand Rapids
- Traverse City – August 21, 2008, 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., United Way of Northwestern Michigan, 521 South Union Street, Traverse City
Each training will cover the following:
- Why nonprofits are uniquely positioned to affect greater voter turnout;
- The do's and don'ts of election year activity;
- Nonpartisan election activity: what it looks like, how you do it;
- Ideas for incorporating voter engagement activities into the work you're already doing;
- Where to access resources to complement your efforts; and more!
