MNA Announces Statewide Survey to Capture First Ever Comprehensive Nonprofit Leadership Dataset

Statewide Survey Will Capture the First Ever Comprehensive Dataset on Nonprofit Leadership in Michigan 

The Michigan Nonprofit Association — in partnership with Data Driven Detroit (D3) and the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy — is working to build the first comprehensive dataset about the demographics of nonprofit leadership throughout Michigan.

This project is supported with funding from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. It will collect staff and board demographic information and resource- and equity-related data from participants. The partners hope to capture information from all regions of the state.

Survey finds racial gaps in Detroit nonprofit leadership: What that means

The Detroit Free Press recently published an article highlighting the results of the Detroit Nonprofit Leadership Census, a collaboration between the Michigan Nonprofit Association (MNA) and Data Driven Detroit (D3).

The survey looked at racial diversity in leadership roles from a sample of 200 organizations out of about 1,500 operating in the city. MNA's Nellie Tsai, social innovation officer, was quoted on the general importance of the survey, especially with events in the past two years.
