Michigan Nonprofit Council for Charitable Trusts

The Nonprofit Council for Charitable Trusts was formed in January 2004 by the Michigan Nonprofit Association and the Council of Michigan Foundations. Chaired by Michigan’s Assistant Attorney General, the Council provides expertise and guidance to the Attorney General on issues related to charities and charitable giving in Michigan.

Purpose of the Council

  • Provide feedback on existing and emerging regulations affecting the nonprofit sector.
  • Assist the Attorney General with educating donors and citizens about charities and charitable giving.
  • Promote an accountable, efficient, and responsive nonprofit sector through regulatory compliance and the promotion of best practices.
