Primary Purpose of Role: The Major Gift Officer for the United Methodist Retirement Communities ("UMRC") Foundation will use the highest professional and ethical standards to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individuals, corporations, and foundation capable of making major and planned gifts, initially in support of UMRC's comprehensive campaign, and then other fundraising initiatives. This will be done in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, as well as corporate policy and procedure. 

  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of 100+ prospective major donors, including individuals, foundations, and corporations capable of making a financial impact on the UMRC Foundation. 
  • In conjunction with UMRC Foundation's President and Director of Donor Relations, develop and implement short-term and long-range fundraising plans for major and planned gifts. 
  • Apply best practice gift planning techniques and be able to ascertain the best combination of current and deferred giving to meet the donor's aspirations and those of UMRC. 
  • Represent the UMRC Foundation with dignity and demonstrate success in securing major contributions and multi-year gifts.

Educational Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university 
  • Minimum of 4 years of increasing responsibility in major gift fund development
  • CFRE certification preferred
