The Helm is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping seniors of the Grosse Pointes and Harper Woods maintain their lives with independence and dignity through a variety of programs and services.

The Helm is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, creative professional admin. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Administrative Assistant will perform a wide range of administrative and office support activities for the Executive Director and department managers to assist with the efficient operation of the organization.

Key Responsibilities include: 

  • Prepare and modify documents including correspondence, reports, memos, emails and flyers.
  • Create and distribute minutes from Board of Trustees and staff meetings.
  • Maintain corporate calendar and manage facility rentals.
  • Manage petty cash and reconcile at end of each month.
  • Maintain supplies inventory.
  • Assist with employee benefit program and provide new employees with the proper employment paperwork; update employee records; order business cards, name badges; provide parking pass.  Report new hires to state of Michigan.
  • Assist with development, improvement, and implementation of office policies and procedures. 

Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required; knowledge of donor software (Donor Perfect) and design software (InDesign) desirable.
