Seeking a caring and experienced professional to immediately fill a part-time (approximately 22.50 hours per week) Pregnancy Counselor position. Position provides pregnancy counseling services to expectant parents within the community as well as incarcerated women. Responsible for coordinating and assessing requests for pregnancy-related services and assisting clients with implementation of parenting, relative care giving, or adoption plans through counseling and utlization of community resources. Position is temporary to cover a staff leave of at least 3 months; duration of appointment to be determined.

Knowledge of MI adoption laws and the adoption process desired as duties involve extensive work within legal system for adoption placements. Ideal candidate will have a BSW with proven, related professional experience, MSW is preferred. Other requirements incude exceptional interpersonal communication skills and confidence working with pregnant women and their families in a variety of housing environments, including prison-based. Full-time position available for a talented professional with experience in volunteer management and working with older adults. The RSVP Director is responsible for all aspects of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). RSVP recruits and places adult volunteers age 55 and older who are interested in serving at non-profit organizations in Washtenaw County. 

We are seeking a candidate who will:

  • Provide supervision of recruitment and placement of senior volunteers
  • Collaborate with local non-profits to adddress community needs
  • Supervise and coordinate volunteer recognition events
  • Collaborate with CSSW staff, the RSVP Community Advisory Council, and volunteer station staff
  • Work with the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) and the State of Michigan Aging and Adult Services Agency (AASA) to define program outcomes and ensure goals are met
  • Be responsible for RSVP program public relations and maintenance of program records

Qualified applicants will possess Master's level social work, gerontology, non-profit administration, or equivalent combination of relevant experience and advanced education. Must have exceptional verbal, presentation, and written communication skills, grant writing and grant management experience and experience with staff supervision. Program development experience and non-profit administration of older adult and/or volunteer community programs highly preferred. Must be willing to work remotely throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, with some on-site work if necessary.

Fundraising – 50% time

Community Relations -   20% time

Management/Supervision – 10% time

Operations – 10% time

Work with the Program Manager and staff to facilitate program activities.

Administration – 5 % time

Finance – 5% time

This position coordinated all aspects of the emergency shelter at Shelter of Flint, maintaining the most welcoming and comfortable, home-like environment as possible. Leadership duties include: ability to work independently while also being on a team with other management staff; represent the Shelter of Flint at community-based meetings; proacftively address staff performance and conduct issues as they arise.

Experience with the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and knowledge of local resources in the Flint and surrounding communities is desired.

Requirements include: Bachelor's degree (minimum) in social work, psychology or related fieold; minimum three years successful supervisory experience; minimum three to five years case managmeent experience; excellent verbal/non-verbal/written communication skills; ability to work with adults and chilfen; reasonable flexibility with scheduling (some evenings/weekends)
