Whitmer Proclaims August 14-18 as Charitable Nonprofit Week in Recognition of Contributions of Michigan’s Nonprofits

LANSING- Michigan's Governor Gretchen Whitmer has officially declared August 14-18 as Charitable Nonprofit Week, a significant tribute to the remarkable efforts of over 50,000 nonprofit organizations across the state. This proclamation highlights the invaluable contributions of Michigan’s nonprofits, which have tirelessly served communities and individuals during times of need.

The declaration is a testament to the dedication, compassion, and impact that nonprofit organizations have exhibited, especially during the challenges posed by the ongoing pandemic. By designating this week as Charitable Nonprofit Week, the state of Michigan underscores the importance of supporting nonprofits that have been instrumental in addressing a wide range of critical issues, from healthcare and education to food security, housing, and social welfare.

"Michigan's nonprofit sector has demonstrated unwavering resilience and a deep commitment to uplifting our communities," said Michigan Nonprofit Association President and CEO, Kelley Kuhn. "During these unprecedented times, nonprofits have emerged as beacons of hope, providing essential services and support to those most in need. Charitable Nonprofit Week is a moment to acknowledge their tireless dedication and to inspire continued solidarity."

The proclamation of Charitable Nonprofit Week stands as a reminder of Michigan's shared commitment to fostering a thriving community, where collaboration and compassion create a brighter future for all. This week serves as an opportunity to express gratitude to the nonprofits that have been instrumental in enriching the lives of individuals across the state.
